About Me
I’m a freelance marketing, communications & change management consultant.
By day I help brands find their voice and start having the right conversations in the right places with the right people. Online or off. I also work with internal teams with their organisational or technological change management, helping employees understand what they need to do differently and why.
By night I blog, tweet, occasionally moonlight as a freelance travel and lifestyle writer and lurk about on the interwebs. Lots.
I have a mixed bag of interesting skills, gathered in a career featuring stints as a cat-herder, fish farmer, assistant zoo keeper and executive P.A. to a mad Frenchman.
Before starting my own business, I spent just over 9 years behind the scenes at global brand development and marketing insight consultancy, Added Value.
Working with the chief marketing officer, I was responsible for plotting and executing the marketing plan for the Group (21 offices in 13 countries at last count).
Before Added Value, I was trained in the bootcamps of some great South African PR agencies and I have a B.A. in English and Drama with a Post Graduate in Marketing Management from UCT.
I’m interested in how corporates treat their humans, in how brands work, in the power of socialisation and culture and in really juvenile humour (Nhur hur hur). I’m also rather fond of bendy brains, books, writers and the origins of language.
For example, did you know that the word freelance comes from a time when Knights would offer their lances for hire to the local Lords? Well, there you go.
